This is my 2nd model, both being tanks. This is the Dragon Panzer IA Smart Kit and I used some of the Eduard PE set for the tools and a few other details.

My 1st set of pics is from my finished base coat. It's kind of subtle, but I used the technique that I've seen wbill76 describe:

1) Black base coat
2) Gradual build up of Panzer Grey
3) Random pattern with a lightened Panzer Grey
4) Diluted misting of normal panzer grey to blend

I practiced and practiced with my airbrush before trying this out on my built Panzer. You be the judge. I'll update as the painting progresses.

Did a little more work...baby steps ;)

All details painted. Wheels, sprokets installed and pre-weathered with some steel -> dirt -> lightened grey drybrushing.

Next step is the tracks and finish the muffler with some rust then apply the future coat and some decals.

Got the tracks painted and installed. I built up the tracks and fit then around the gears to shape the sags, etc. Wait for them to dry a day and the take them off to paint.

After painting I went to re-install and one side was a track link too short. I was just scratching my head on that one...wasn't expecting shrinkage! Had to get another link, paint and pre-weather it before finishing up.

Got some decals on and have started weathering.

This is the part I'm most in the dark about. I've felt pretty confident building and doing the basecoat and decals, but weathering seems like such an art. After a few tanks and trying various techniques I'll feel better.

What I've done so far after decals...

- Oil paint dot method for some fading on the grey and some streaking (subtle).
Used deep blue, grey, brown, small amounts of white and yellow orche
- Wash of Van Dyke Brown oil.
- Pin wash of Raw Umber.

Final steps:

- Added some paint chipping.
- Created rust/dirt streaks with oils.
- Re-did some brown/black washes, earlier ones were too light.
- Dullcote applied.
- Some light use of pigments to get her dusty.
